About

Jeny Walding in her studio

Jeny Walding is an artist based in Mundesley, on the North Norfolk coast.

Born in Solihull, Warwickshire, Jeny trained as a teacher at St Mary’s College in Cheltenham, specialising in Art and History, and continued to paint as a leisure activity until her retirement — when she was able to give her art far more of her time.

She spent three years at City College Norwich studying Art and Design, followed by a Foundation Year covering Painting, Sculpture, Printing and Textiles. She found Textiles particularly exciting, and went on to enrol on a Textile course at Thorpe St Andrew Further Education College.

Jeny has exhibited at C21, Blickling Hall, Wymondham, Thorpe Market, The Garden House, The Belfry (Overstrand), The Forum, The Gallery Corpusty and The Atrium, and is a member of East Coast Artz.

Her inspiration comes from the beach and sea in Mundesley where she lives, her garden, landscape and the natural world — though as she likes to work from life, she also enjoys still life painting in the winter months. Jeny enjoys trying out new techniques, using colour and texture to interpret form in an original way.
